What blinds and shutter websites get wrong
We have reviewed well over a hundred blinds business websites this year. Most make the same handful of mistakes, and nearly all of them cost enquiries.
We have looked at well over a hundred blinds and shutter business websites this year, across the US and the UK. Most of them make the same handful of mistakes, and almost all of those mistakes cost enquiries.
The biggest one is no photos of real work. A blinds business sells something visual. Customers want to see your shutters in a real living room, not a supplier catalogue picture. Yet most sites we see show generic images or none at all.
The second is that the site never says where the business works. Someone searching for blinds in Manchester lands on a site that names no towns at all. Google cannot rank you for an area you never mention, and a visitor will not ring to ask whether you cover their street.
The third is that getting in touch is harder than it should be. Either there is no quote form, or the form asks for everything except what you need to price the job. A blinds enquiry needs the window type, rough sizes, and a postcode. Without those, every enquiry starts with three extra messages back and forth.
And plenty of businesses have no website at all, just a Facebook page. That works until a customer searches on Google instead, which is where most buying searches happen. A Facebook page cannot rank for shutter searches the way a proper site can.
None of this needs a big budget to fix. Real photos, the towns you serve written out on the page, and a short quote form that asks the right questions will put you ahead of most competitors. Those are the exact things we check first in every website review we do.
